About Me

I’ve been playing the piano since I was nine years old, and music has been woven into my life ever since. With just four years of lessons—and the incredible support of my piano teacher and family—I had the privilege of performing Haydn’s Piano Concerto in D Minor with our local Symphony Orchestra. But as much as I loved music, I knew I didn’t want to pursue the rigorous path of a concert pianist. I wanted to play sports, enjoy time with friends, and live a more balanced life. So I stopped taking lessons.

But I never stopped playing.

Music became a way for me to serve and uplift others. I played for baptisms, church choirs, sacrament meetings, weddings, funerals, Primary programs—wherever there was a need, I filled it. As I got older, I found that my musical skills could also be a blessing in other ways, from playing paid gigs at holiday parties to accompanying vocal majors in college to help pay my way through school.

Then life got busier. Marriage, kids, responsibilities. My time at the piano became less frequent—but my love for it never faded. And then, one day, I was called to be the ward organist.

I’d never played the organ before.

I knew how to play the hymns, but suddenly, I was facing an instrument that felt foreign and intimidating. I wanted to play it well—not just for myself, but to help bring the Spirit into our meetings. I didn’t want to lead the congregation musically astray! So, with four young children to balance and a deep desire to serve, I started learning the best way I could—by doing.

That’s why Organ and Ivory exists.

I know what it’s like to be a pianist-turned-organist, trying to figure out how to make that transition without feeling overwhelmed. That’s why I create organ-friendly hymn arrangements designed to bridge the gap—keeping the warmth and familiarity of piano while helping you confidently grow into your new calling.

My first love will always be the piano, but I’ve learned to respect—and even love—the organ. If you’re on this journey too, I hope these arrangements help you feel at home at the organ bench so you can focus on what matters most: worship, service, and music that brings the Spirit.
